On Monday evening, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks are facing off against the Detroit Pistons (in Michigan).

During the first half, the two-time MVP made NBA history by moving ahead of his former coach, Hall of Famer Jason Kidd (17,529) for 89th on the all-time scoring list.

Following Kidd, the next player for Antetokounmpo to pass will be Otis Thorpe (17,599).

Antetokounmpo came into the evening with averages of 31.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 60.9% from the field in 40 games.

Kidd was the head coach of the Bucks for part of four seasons (2014-18).

During that time, he helped Antetokounmpo develop into an All-Star and make the NBA playoffs twice.

Right now, the Bucks are the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 29-13 record in their first 42 games.

They are 5-5 over their last ten games and most recently beat the Pistons (also in Detroit) on Saturday afternoon by a score of 141-135.

Antetokounmpo had an excellent game, putting up 31 points, ten rebounds, nine assists, two steals and one block while shooting 10/16 from the field in 38 minutes of playing time.

Following the Pistons, the Bucks will host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday evening in Wisconsin.

Antetokounmpo is in his 11th season in the league (all with the Bucks) and has helped the franchise make the NBA playoffs for seven straight years.

They won the 2021 NBA Championship over Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns.
