BREAKING: Golden State Warriors Player Reportedly Suspended By NBA
UPDATE: The NBA has officially announced the punishments.
UPDATE: ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski also reports that Klay Thompson, Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels will be fined.
On Tuesday evening, the Golden State Warriors lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 104-101.
Before one point was scored, there was a scuffle that led to Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels being ejected.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Draymond Green will be suspended for five games following the incident.
Via Wojnarowski: "The NBA is suspending Golden State’s Draymond Green for five games, source tells ESPN. Significant hit for the Warriors."
Green has played in nine games so far this season and is averaging 8.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest while shooting 48.2% from the field and 45.0% from the three-point range.
With the loss to the Timberwolves, the Warriors are now 6-6 in their first 12 games and in the middle of a four-game losing streak.
They will play their next game (at home) against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday evening in San Francisco.
Anthony Slater of The Athletic also confirmed the news of the suspension.
Via Slater: "It’ll be a five-game suspension for Draymond Green, sources confirm. ESPN first. That means he will miss these five: Thunder, Thunder, Rockets, at Suns, Spurs."
Green is in his 12th season in the NBA (all with the Warriors) and has helped the franchise win four titles (and make the NBA Finals six times) over the previous nine seasons.
Last year, the former Michigan State star averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 52.7% from the field.
