BREAKING: Golden State Warriors Reportedly Sign Intriguing Player
Jayce Johnson initially went undrafted out of Marquette in 2020, and is coming off a season where he played for the Santa Cruz Warriors (in the G League).
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the Golden State Warriors will sign Johnson to an Exhibit 10 deal.
Via Charania: "The Golden State Warriors are signing the NBA G League’s top rebounder Jayce Johnson on a training camp Exhibit 10 deal, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. The 7-foot center averaged nearly 6 PPG and 7 RPG in July Summer League, and will compete for a two-way slot in camp."
Last year, Johnson played in 32 G League regular season games and averaged 9.4 points, 13.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 57.8% from the field.
In addition, he appeared in 11 Showcase Cup games with averages of 6.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 49.1% from the field.
He played for the Warriors during NBA Summer League and will now be on their training camp roster.
Since Charania reports that the deal is an Exhibit 10, he will likely return to their G League team.
Johnson is an intriguing addition to the Warriors' training camp team because no one on the 15-man roster is taller than 6'10".
Therefore, the 26-year-old could be an excellent candidate to land a two-way contract or a ten-day deal at some point.
The Warriors are coming off a season where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
