On Thursday evening, the Phoenix Suns faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers in California.

The Lakers won by a score of 100-95 (the Suns were playing without Devin Booker and Bradley Beal).

During the game, Kevin Durant made exciting NBA history as he moved ahead of Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon on the all-time scoring list.

Durant came into the night with 26,910 points and needed 37 to move ahead of Olajuwon.

Via The NBA: "KD to the hoop and the foul!

Durant passes Hakeem Olajuwon for 12th on the NBA's all-time scoring list!"

Durant finished the game with 39 points (on 14/28 shooting), 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 39 minutes of playing time.

Despite playing without two of their best three players, the Suns went into the fourth quarter with a 12-point lead.

Anthony Davis led the way for the Lakers with 30 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, three steals and three blocks.

Durant was traded to the Suns in February (via the Brooklyn Nets), so this is his first full year playing for the franchise.

He is in his 15th season in the league and has played for the Suns, Nets, Warriors and Thunder/SuperSonics.

His career averages are 27.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 49.9% from the field and 38.5% from the three-point range in 987 regular season games.

The former Texas star is a two-time NBA Champion and has played in 166 NBA playoff games.
