BREAKING: Kevin Durant Makes Extraordinary NBA History
On Friday night, the Phoenix Suns are in Illinois, facing off with the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.
13-time NBA All-Star Kevin Durant is playing in just his second game with the Suns (he was traded via the Brooklyn Nets last month).
During the game against the Bulls, the 34-year-old made NBA history, as he has now passed Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson on the all-time scoring list.
Durant came into the night with 26,707 points, which ranked 14th on the list, and he only needed four points to pass Robertson (26,710).
The former Texas star is currently averaging 29.7 points per contest and has shown no signs of slowing down.
Therefore, Durant could finish his career in the top five (on the list).
Now that he has moved ahead of Robertson, the next person for him to pass will be Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon (26,946).
The Suns are the fourth organization that Durant has played for during his time in the NBA.
He was the second pick in the 2007 NBA Draft and has also had stints with the Seattle SuperSonics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors (and Nets).
With the Warriors, Durant won two NBA Championships and two Finals MVP Awards.
He also won the 2014 NBA MVP Award while he was on the Thunder.
The Suns came into the night as the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 34-29 record in 63 games.
In 2021, they made the NBA Finals, and last season they had the best record (64-18) in the league.
Adding Durant makes them arguably the most talented team in the NBA.
