BREAKING: New York Knicks Reportedly Signing 6-Year NBA Player
On Friday evening, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Detroit Pistons had agreed to a contract buyout with Shake Milton.
Milton had been averaging 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 40.3% from the field and 27.4% from the three-point range in 42 games for the Pistons (and Timberwolves).
Wojnarowski now reports that Milton will likely sign with the New York Knicks after he clears waivers.
Via Wojnarowski: "ESPN Sources: Shake Milton is planning to sign with the New York Knicks upon clearing waivers. Milton agreed to a contract buyout with Detroit and will be eligible for the Knicks’ playoff roster. Guard gives immediate help to an injury-riddled roster."
Milton has been a productive role player over his six seasons in the NBA.
His career averages are 8.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest while shooting 45.1% from the field and 35.7% from the three-point range in 296 regular season games.
The 27-year-old has also appeared in 34 NBA playoff games with the 76ers.
The Knicks are in the middle of a good season and are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 35-25 record in 60 games.
That said, they are 3-7 over their last ten games and are also in the middle of a two-game losing streak.
Most recently, the Knicks lost to the Golden State Warriors by a score of 110-99.
Following the Warriors, they will play their next game on Sunday when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers in Ohio.
