BREAKING: The Toronto Raptors Are Signing A New Player
On Friday night, the Toronto Raptors are hosting the New York Knicks in Canada.
Before the game, the team is reportedly signing a new player, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Via Wojnarowski: "The Toronto Raptors are signing G League G/F Joe Wieskamp to a 10-day contract, his agents Kyle McAlarney and Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tell ESPN. Wieskamp played 29 games with the Spurs a season ago."
In 29 games with the Spurs, Wieskamp averaged 2.1 points per contest during the 2021-22 season.
The 23-year-old was the 41st overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Iowa.
In college, he had a phenomenal career with the Hawkeyes.
Over three seasons, he played in 97 games and had averages of 13.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest (he also shot 41.2% from the three-point range).
During his final season in college, he averaged 14.8 points per contest on an incredible 46.2% shooting from the three-point range.
He has played in the G League this season and is averaging 17.0 points per contest on 40.2% shooting from the three-point range in 13 games.
As for the Raptors, they come into Friday's matchup with a 16-22 record in 38 games, which has them as the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference.
They are in the middle of a two-game losing streak and are 3-7 in their last ten games.
However, the Raptors have been a solid team at home, with an 11-9 record in the 20 games they have hosted in Canada.
