BREAKING: Wizards And Pistons Reportedly Make A Deal
On Friday evening, NBA free agency began and teams around the league are agreeing to new deals with players.
In addition, there have been several reported trades during the day.
Most recently, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards have agreed to a deal (James Edwards III of The Athletic first reported the news).
Via Wojnarowski: "Compensation update: The Wizards are trading Monte Morris to the Pistons for a second-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Wizards will create a $9.8M Traded Player Exception."
Morris is coming off a season where he averaged 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists per contest while shooting 48.0% from the field and 38.2% from the three-point range in 62 games.
He was in his first season with the Wizards, but they had a disappointing year finishing as the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 37-45 record.
Prior to the Wizards, Morris had spent the first five seasons of his career playing for the Denver Nuggets.
His career averages are 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per contest while shooting 48.1% from the field and 39.2% from the three-point range in 342 regular season games (he has also played in 48 NBA Playoff games).
As for the Pistons, they are coming off a season where they were the worst team in the NBA with a 17-65 record.
That said, they have young talent on the roster, and earlier in the day, Wojnarowski reported that the Pistons acquired Joe Harris from the Brooklyn Nets.
