TRADE OFFICIAL: Nets And Kings Complete Deal
The NBA trading deadline is nearly 24 hours away, so rumors (and trades) will likely continue to heat up.
On Tuesday night, the Sacramento Kings and Brooklyn Nets completed a deal for Kessler Edwards.
The 22-year-old forward is in his second season in the NBA after being drafted with the 44th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Via Nets PR: "OFFICIAL: The Brooklyn Nets have acquired the draft rights to David Michineau from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for forward Kessler Edwards and cash considerations."
Edwards played in 48 games (starting 23) during his rookie season and averaged 5.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest.
However, his role this season was diminished and he's only played in 14 games with averages of 1.1 points and 1.0 rebounds per contest.
The former Pepperdine star has also spent time in the G League with the Long Island Nets.
In 2022-23, he's appeared in ten Showcase Cup Games and 14 regular season games.
His G League regular season averages are 16.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.
ESPN' Adrian Wojnarowski, who reported the trade before it was official, added more details on Edwards' future with the Kings' organization.
Via Wojnarowski: "Kings intend to give Edwards an opportunity to play with their G League affiliate in Stockton, but with two days to go until trade deadline his future will remain fluid."
The Kings have not been to the NBA Playoffs since 2006, but they are currently the third seed in the Western Conference with a 30-23 record in 53 games.
