Cleveland Cavaliers Reportedly Make A Roster Decision

According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers have picked up Evan Mobley's fourth-year option.

UPDATE: The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially announced the move.

Via The Cavs: "OFFICIAL: We have exercised the fourth-year (2024-25) contract option on Evan Mobley, Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman announced today."

Evan Mobley is one of the best players on the Cleveland Cavaliers and is coming off his second season in the NBA.

The former USC star averaged 16.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 blocks per contest while shooting 55.4% from the field in 79 games.

On Wednesday, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reported that the Cavs have picked up Mobley's fourth-year option on his contract.

This means that the Cavs will have Mobley under contract until the summer of 2025, when he becomes a restricted free agent.

Via Fedor: "#Cavs exercised their fourth-year option on Evan Mobley today, a source tells @clevelanddotcom."

The move is unsurprising, as Mobley has a chance to be an All-Star at some point over the next few seasons.

He was the third pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, and over two seasons in the league, he has career averages of 15.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.6 blocks per contest while shooting 53.3% from the field in 148 regular season games.

Mobley helped the Cavs (last year) make the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2018 season.

They were the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 51-31 record but lost to the New York Knicks in the first round (in six games).

The Cavs have gone 1-2 in their first three preseason games, and they will play their final exhibition on Friday against the Indiana Pacers.

On October 25, they will play their first game of the regular season when they visit the Brooklyn Nets in New York.
