On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Lakers will be in San Francisco to face off with the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center.

For the game, they will likely have their new starting point guard available, as D'Angelo Russell is not on the injury report.

The 2019 NBA All-Star was traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Lakers earlier this week.

He was in the middle of his fourth season playing for the Timberwolves and is averaging 17.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.1 steals per contest.

The former Ohio State star is also shooting an outstanding 46.5% from the field and 39.1% from the three-point range.

Russell was the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Lakers and spent the first two seasons of his career with Los Angeles.

He has also played for the Brooklyn Nets (and Warriors), in addition to the Lakers and Timberwolves.

In 2019, he led the Nets to the NBA Playoffs and made the All-Star Game, with averages of 21.1 points and 7.0 assists per contest.

The 26-year-old will be an excellent addition to the Lakers and gives them a much better chance of competing for an NBA Championship.

Right now, the Lakers are 25-31 in 56 games, which has them as the 13th seed in the Western Conference.

That said, they are only 4.5 games back of the sixth seed (the final guaranteed playoff spot).

As for the Warriors, they are tied for the seventh seed in the west with a 28-27 record in 55 games.
