On Wednesday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies are hosting the Utah Jazz in Tennessee.

During the game, Derrick Rose made NBA history by moving up on the all-time assists list.

Rose came into the evening with 3,711 career assists, and he has now moved ahead of Luke Ridnour (3,713) and Paul Pressey (3,715) for 148th on the list.

Following Ridnour and Pressey, the next player for Rose to pass will be Sam Lacey (3,754).

Rose came into the matchup with averages of 9.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest while shooting 44.6% from the field and 50.0% from the three-point range in eight games.

The Grizzlies are 3-13 in their first 16 games, which has them as the 14th seed in the Western Conference.

They are in the middle of a four-game losing streak and most recently lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 119-97.

In 20 minutes of playing time, Rose had 12 points, two rebounds, four assists and one steal while shooting 5/12 from the field.

Following the Jazz, the Grizzlies will play their next game on Friday when they visit the Dallas Mavericks in Texas.

Rose is in his 15th season playing in the NBA (his first with Memphis), and at one point, he was among the best players in the league.

That said, the three-time All-Star has done a fantastic job of transitioning into a solid role player over the last decade.

In addition to the Grizzlies, he has also played for the Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls.
