Detroit Pistons Release Recent New York Knicks Player

The Detroit Pistons have waived Ryan Arcidiacono.

Earlier this week, Ryan Arcidiacono was traded from the New York Knicks to the Detroit Pistons.

Arcidiacono had played in 20 games for the Knicks this season.

However, the Pistons will not be keeping Arcidiacono, as they have announced (on Saturday night) that he has been waived.

Via Pistons PR: "The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has requested waivers on guard Ryan Arcidiacono."

Arcidiacono is in his seventh season in the NBA and has also spent time with the Portland Trail Blazers and Chicago Bulls (in addition to New York).

His career averages are 4.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 42.1% from the field and 36.9% from the three-point range in 257 regular season games.

The best tenure of Arcidiacono's career came with the Bulls, and during the 2019 season, he played in 81 games (32 starts) and averaged 6.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest while shooting 44.7% from the field and 37.3% from the three-point range.

Once the former Villanova star clears waivers, he could be a good pickup for a team looking to add a backup point guard.

As for the Pistons, they are the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference (last place) with an 8-44 record in 52 games.

They are 4-6 over their last ten games and lost to the Los Angeles Clippers by a score of 112-106 on Saturday afternoon.

Following the Clippers, the Pistons will remain in Los Angeles to play the Lakers on Tuesday evening.
