David Nwaba most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he was a member of the Houston Rockets.
That year, he averaged 5.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 48.3% from the field and 30.6% from the three-point range in 46 games.
This past season, Nwaba played in the G League and had averages of 16.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 54.9% from the field in 25 regular season games (he also appeared in two Showcase Cup games).
On Saturday, the Detroit Pistons announced that they had signed four new players (including Nwaba).
Via Pistons PR: "The @DetroitPistons announced today that the team has signed Treveon Graham, David Nwaba, Nate Roberts and Ryan Turell to Exibit 10 contracts."
Nwaba has played six seasons in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets.
His career averages are 6.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest while shooting 49.0% from the field and 32.0% from the three-point range in 237 regular season games.
Based on the timing of the signings, Nwaba, Roberts, Graham and Turell will all likely be waived (and go to the G League).
As for the Pistons, they will play their first game of the year on October 25 when they visit the Miami Heat in Florida.
Last season, they were the worst team in the NBA (15th seed in the Eastern Conference) with a 17-65 record.
