Ex-NBA Player Being Paid Nearly $3 Million Per Year By The Detroit Pistons
Dewayne Dedmon most recently played in the NBA during the 2022-23 season when he was a member of the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers.
That season, he averaged 5.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 51.0% from the field and 30.8% from the three-point range in 38 games (he also appeared one playoff game).
Back in 2020, Dedmon was traded (via the Atlanta Hawks) to the Detroit Pistons.
However, he did not appear in a game for Detroit and was immediately waived.
The Pistons then stretched out his contract, and he will continue to be paid $2.7 million per year until the end of the 2024-25 NBA season (h/t Spotrac and Sam Yip of HoopsHype).
Dedmon has played ten seasons in the NBA for the Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic.
His career averages are 6.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 52.6% from the field and 33.6% from the three-point range in 515 regular season games.
He has also appeared in 31 NBA playoff games (three starts).
As for the Pistons, they have had a tough season and are the 15th seed (last place) in the Eastern Conference with a 13-65 record in 78 games.
They have gone 1-9 over their last ten games and are also in the middle of a four-game losing streak.
The franchise hasn't made the NBA playoffs since the 2019 season when Blake Griffin was still on the roster.
