Golden State Warriors Reportedly Make Roster Decision Before NBA Playoffs
Usman Garuba is in his first season playing for the Golden State Warriors.
He is on a two-way contract and has appeared in five games.
On Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the Warriors will likely sign him to the 15-man roster.
Via Charania: "The Golden State Warriors are planning to convert two-way center Usman Garuba to a standard NBA deal for the rest of the season, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Garuba will fill Warriors' final roster spot and is playoff-eligible."
Garuba was initially the 23rd pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets.
His career averages are 2.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 46.9% from the field and 36.3% from the three-point range in 104 regular season games.
As for Golden State, they are the tenth seed in the Western Conference (the final play-in tournament spot) with a 45-36 record in 81 games.
They have gone 8-2 over their last ten games but most recently lost to the New Orleans Pelicans (at home) by a score of 114-109.
Following New Orleans, the Warriors will play their next game on Sunday afternoon when they host the Utah Jazz at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
The Warriors are coming off a season where they defeated the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the NBA playoffs (they lost to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round).
Since the 2015 season, they have won four titles.
