Gregg Popovich Asks Reporter If He's On Drugs After Spurs-Celtics Game
On Wednesday evening, the San Antonio Spurs faced off against the Boston Celtics in Massachusetts.
The Spurs lost the second quarter by 20 points and never recovered, losing by a score of 117-98.
After the game, head coach Gregg Popovich met with the media and shared a hilarious quote.
Reporter: "It seemed like a fairly even game, except for the second quarter; what did you see in that frame?"
Popovich: "What're you on drugs? Even game? Come on. Wow. They kicked our a**."
Popovich has been known to have humorous moments with the media over his 20+ years at the helm.
He is one of the greatest coaches of all time, but the Spurs have struggled so far this season.
They are the 15th seed in the Western Conference with a 7-33 record in their first 40 games.
Over the last ten games, the Spurs are 2-8, and they are in the middle of a three-game losing streak.
Following the Celtics, they will now head to North Carolina to face off against LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets on Friday evening.
On the road, the Spurs are 4-17 in the 21 games they have played away from San Antonio, Texas.
The Spurs have missed the NBA playoffs in each of the previous four seasons, and the drought will likely continue in 2024.
However, the franchise has won five NBA Championships with Popovich and has 2023 first-overall pick Victor Wembanyama, who has brought a lot of excitement to the team.
