Ben Simmons' Great Quote After The Nets Beat The Trail Blazers
On Thursday evening, the Brooklyn Nets snapped a two-game losing streak when they beat the Portland Trail Blazers by a score of 109-107 in Oregon.
Ben Simmons had his best game as a member of the Nets, putting up 15 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and one block.
He also shot a perfect 100% from the field (7/7).
After the game, the three-time NBA All-Star met with the media.
"People seem like I had a sprained ankle or something, you know I had back surgery, that's not easy to come back from," Simmons said. "I took it day-by-day, I stay locked in, I stay focused and continue to build; myself, my body and my game."
Simmons missed the entire 2021-22 season (he was traded to the Nets from the Philadelphia 76ers at the trading deadline), and over the offseason, he had surgery on his back.
Therefore, it makes sense why he has had a slow start to the season.
He will likely need more time before he can truly look like the player he once was (or even better).
At one point, he was one of the best defenders and playmakers in the league.
Before missing last season, he made the NBA All-Star Game three times in a row and has never missed the NBA Playoffs.
So far this season, the former first-overall pick is averaging 6.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.0 steals per contest.
The Nets improved to 7-9 in their first 16 games of the season.
