Houston Rockets Reportedly Sign 15-Year NBA Veteran

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Houston Rockets are signing Jeff Green.

Jeff Green has been one of the best role players in the NBA since being drafted with the fifth pick in the 2008 Draft out of Georgetown.

This past year, the 36-year-old helped the Denver Nuggets win the NBA Championship over the Miami Heat.

On Saturday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports that Green will sign with the Houston Rockets on a one-year deal.

Scotto: "BREAKING: The Houston Rockets have agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with NBA champion Jeff Green, league sources told @hoopshype. The deal was negotiated by agent Jason Glushon of @GlushonSM."

Green finished the 2023 season with averages of 7.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 48.8% from the field in 56 regular season games.

The 15-year-veteran was briefly on the Rockets during the 2020 season (18 games).

In addition to the Nuggets and Rockets, Green has played for the Brooklyn Nets, Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder/Seattle SuperSonics.

His career averages are 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 44.9% from the field in 1,107 regular season games (he has also played in 103 NBA Playoff games).

The Rockets went 22-60 last season, which was tied for the second-worst record in the entire NBA.

That said, they have been one of the most active teams during free agency and now have enough talent on the roster to compete for the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
