Indiana Pacers Release NBA Champion
Jordan Bell most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he appeared in one game for the Chicago Bulls.
Last year, the former Oregon star played in the CBA for the Guangzhou Loong Lions.
He averaged 10.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.9 blocks per contest while shooting 59.8% from the field in 40 games.
Recently, the 28-year-old signed a deal with the Indiana Pacers.
However, he has now been waived.
Via The Pacers: "We have waived Jordan Bell and Elfrid Payton."
Bell was initially the 38th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors.
In addition to his time with the Warriors and Bulls, he has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies.
Over five seasons in the league, Bell has career averages of 3.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest while shooting 55.2% from the field in 161 regular season games.
He has also appeared in 32 NBA playoff games and helped the Warriors win the Championship over the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype first reported that Bell would play for the Mad Ants (G League affiliate of the Pacers).
Via Scotto on September 23: "Former NBA champion Jordan Bell is signing an Exhibit 10 deal with the Indiana Pacers, league sources told @hoopshype. Bell will be a veteran leader for Indiana’s G League affiliate, the Mad Ants."
Meanwhile, the Pacers are coming off a year where they were the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 37-45 record.
