Ja Morant's Viral Tweet After Memphis Grizzlies Sign Derrick Rose
On Friday evening, SNY's Ian Begley reported that the Memphis Grizzlies would sign 2011 NBA MVP Derrick Rose.
The 34-year-old point guard had spent the previous two and a half seasons with the New York Knicks but fell out of the rotation this past year.
That said, Rose had one of the highest peaks of any player in the history of the NBA.
Following the news of Rose joining the team, All-Star point guard Ja Morant sent out a tweet with two emojis.
The Grizzlies now have significant point guard depth, as the team also traded for 2022 Defensive Player of The Year Marcus Smart in a deal with the Boston Celtics earlier this month.
With Morant suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season, Smart and Rose should be able to keep the Grizzlies afloat in the standings.
Last year, the Grizzlies were the second seed in the Western Conference with a 51-31 record.
They had another excellent regular season but lost in the first round of the NBA Playoffs to the Los Angeles Lakers (in six games).
The franchise has made the Playoffs for three straight seasons but has been unable to get out of the second round.
That said, they have a young roster that is extremely talented, so the Grizzlies will likely only get better with time.
Morant is coming off another sensational year with averages of 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 46.6% from the field.
