Jimmy Butler's Bold Statement After Miami Heat Lose NBA Finals
On Monday night, Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat lost to the Denver Nuggets in Game 5 of the NBA Finals by a score of 94-89.
The Nuggets are now the 2023 NBA Champions, and the Heat have lost in the Finals for the second time in the previous four seasons.
Butler finished the night with 21 points, three rebounds, five assists and three steals in 41 minutes of playing time (he shot just 5/18 from the field).
After the game, he met with the media and shared a bold statement.
Reporter: "I know it's tough to look big picture right now, but can you describe what the last four years have been like and just finding a team and a city that you can call home?"
Butler: "It's been great. I've had some hell of a teammates come through here and compete with me and give us an opportunity to win a championship, which I still believe with everything in me that we will do as a team here, as an organization, as a city in Miami."
Butler had a sensational postseason with averages of 26.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.8 steals per contest while shooting 46.8% from the field.
In addition, the Heat were only the second 8th seed in NBA history to reach the Finals.
They beat the Chicago Bulls (play-in tournament), Milwaukee Bucks (first seed), New York Knicks (fifth seed) and Boston Celtics (second seed).
Butler is 33 years old, and next year will be his 13th season in the NBA.
