Jimmy Butler Shares Encouraging Statement After Miami Heat Lose Game 3
On Wednesday evening, Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat lost Game 3 of the NBA Finals to the Denver Nuggets on their home floor by a score of 109-94.
Butler played 40 minutes and had 28 points, two rebounds, four assists and one block while shooting 11/24 from the field.
After the game, the six-time All-Star met with the media and shared an encouraging statement.
Reporter: "You guys got outrebounded 58-33. You mentioned the effort. Why do you think it was so lacking tonight?"
Butler: "I don't know, I can't answer that. Maybe, we're at home. We think we did something. I don't know. It just can't happen. It won't happen again, and it starts with myself. I gotta lock in on the defensive end. I gotta go up and get loose balls, so I think if I start playing and doing that, then everybody else has to follow suit."
Butler has had an excellent postseason and is averaging 27.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.8 steals per contest through his first 20 games.
The Heat now trail the Nuggets 2-1 in the series, but Game 4 will be back in Miami on Friday evening.
This is Butler's fourth season playing for the Heat, and they have made the NBA Playoffs every year.
The franchise is in the NBA Finals for the second time in the previous four seasons (and has also been to the Conference Finals three times in that span).
Following Game 4, the teams will go to Ball Arena in Denver for Game 5 on Monday night.
