On Wednesday evening, the Philadelphia 76ers hosted the Boston Celtics and lost by a score of 117-107.

The 76ers were on the second night of a back-to-back after also losing to the Indiana Pacers by a score of 132-126 (at home).

They have now lost two straight games after winning eight in a row.

Joel Embiid played 34 minutes against the Celtics and had 20 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and one steal while shooting 8/16 from the field.

After the game, the 2023 MVP met with the media and made an intriguing comment (h/t Celtics on NBC Sports Boston).

Embiid: "Tough. Especially playing Indiana twice and then on a back-to-back, playing the best team in the league. It's tough, but no excuses; we still have to be better, and I have to be better."

With the victory, the Celtics improved to 9-2 in their first 11 games and have passed the 76ers for the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

That said, it's still interesting to hear Embiid call the Celtics the best team in the NBA (the 76ers defeated the Celtics by a score of 106-103 earlier this month).

As for the 76ers, they are now 8-3 in their first 11 games and will play their next game against Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks on Friday evening at State Farm Arena in Georgia.

Embiid is averaging 31.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.7 blocks per contest while shooting 50.4% from the field and 30.8% from the three-point range.
