Jordan Poole's Bold Statement About The Washington Wizards
Jordan Poole was the 28th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Michigan and spent the first four seasons of his pro career on the Golden State Warriors.
This past year, he averaged 20.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest while shooting 43.0% from the field and playing in all 82 regular season games (and 13 NBA Playoff games).
The 24-year-old was recently traded to the Washington Wizards, and on Saturday, he met with the media for the first time.
On the Warriors, he was part of a team that had won four NBA Championships over the previous nine seasons, while the Wizards haven't won a playoff series since 2017.
That said, Poole is optimistic about what the team is capable of.
Poole: "We really have a chance to do something special. We're locked in. Everybody's bought in. Front office, coaches, players, we got a great group of young guys. D.C. should be exciting."
Poole helped the Warriors win the 2022 NBA Championship over the Boston Celtics, and he has played in 35 NBA Playoff games.
Therefore, he is bringing significant experience to the locker room.
The addition of Poole gives the Wizards an intriguing duo that also features 2020 NBA Champion Kyle Kuzma, who is coming off a season where he averaged 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest while shooting 44.8% from the field in 64 games.
Over the offseason, the Wizards have traded away Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis, so they will be a completely different team in 2023-24.
