Kevin Durant Made NBA History In Timberwolves-Suns Game
On Wednesday night, the Phoenix Suns defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 107-100 at home in Arizona.
Kevin Durant made his return to the starting lineup after missing ten games in a row due to an ankle injury.
Durant finished the night with 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes of playing time.
By dishing out four assists, the 13-time All-Star made NBA history.
He came into the evening with 4,250 assists, which ranked 101st on the all-time list, and only needed three to move ahead of Grant Hill (4,252) for 100th.
While Durant is widely known as one of the best scorers in league history, he has been an underrated passer for most of his career.
Last year, the former Texas star averaged a career-high 6.4 assists.
Wednesday was only his fourth game with the Suns (he was traded via the Brooklyn Nets last month), and he has outstanding averages of 24.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest in those four games.
He is also shooting 56.7% from the field and 52.9% from the three-point range.
With the victory over the Timberwolves, the Suns improved to 41-35 in 76 games, which has them as the fourth seed in the Western Conference.
They are in the middle of a three-game winning streak and 25-12 in the 37 games they have played on their home floor in Arizona.
The Suns will play their next game on Friday when they host Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
