Klay Thompson's Bold Quote After The Warriors Got Eliminated
On Friday evening, the Golden State Warriors had their season end when they lost Game 6 of their second-round playoff series to the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 122-101 at Crypto.com Arena.
This was the first time since 2014 that the Warriors didn't make the NBA Finals with a healthy Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson.
After the loss, Thompson, who scored eight points one just 3/19 shooting, met with the media, and the future Hall of Famer shared a bold quote.
Thompson: "It's not the end of the road for me. I still know I have greatness ahead of me. This was the first full season in three years I've had to make it through start to finish healthy, so that's a positive, and I know I'm gonna come back even better next year."
In 2020 and 2021, Thompson missed two seasons in a row due to injuries, but he returned in the middle of last year and helped lead the Warriors to the 2022 NBA Championship.
This season, the four-time NBA Champion averaged 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest while shooting 43.6% from the field and 41.2% from the three-point range during the regular season.
However, in the NBA Playoffs, he shot just 38.8% from the field and 36.8% from the three-point range.
That said, he is still one of the best shooting guards in the league, and the Warriors will have another chance to make a run next year.
Thompson has one more year on his contract, which will pay him $43.2 million for the 2023-24 season.
As for the Lakers, they will advance to the Western Conference Finals to face off against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
