Klay Thompson's Bold Quote After Warriors Beat Kings In Game 5
On Wednesday evening, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Sacramento Kings (on the road) 123-116 in Game 5 of their first-round playoff series.
Prior to Game 5, neither team had won on the road in the series, so the Warriors will now take a 3-2 lead back to San Francisco for Game 6 on Friday night.
Klay Thompson had 25 points on 10/19 shooting from the field, and after the game, he spoke about the victory.
Thompson: "We know how difficult it is to win in this building, and it just took a different level of focus than it would have in the past. I just think this was probably the best win of the year, but when the clock strikes midnight, it's a new day, and we gotta put it behind us because we really don't want to come back. We want to give our fans a show at home and hopefully finish the series there."
The Warriors were 11-32 in 43 games on the road coming into Game 5, which makes the victory even more significant.
At home, they are an outstanding 35-8 in 43 games hosted at the Chase Center.
While the Warriors have won the NBA Championship four times in the previous eight seasons, the Kings (who are in the playoffs for the first time since 2006) have been a challenge.
If there is a Game 7, it will be back in Sacramento on Sunday.
Whoever wins the series will advance to the second round and face off against either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Memphis Grizzlies.
