On Saturday evening, the Golden State Warriors hosted the Portland Trail Blazers at the Chase Center. 

The Warriors won the game by a score of 126-106, and Klay Thompson led the way with 28 points and three rebounds while shooting 11/16 from the field and 6/10 from the three-point range in 36 minutes of playing time.  

He also made NBA history by moving ahead of Jason Richardson (14,644) and Jamaal Wilkes (14,644) for 159th on the all-time scoring list

Following Richardson and Wilkes, the next player for Thompson to pass will be Dan Issel (14,659). 

Thompson has played in 28 games so far this season and is averaging 17.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest while shooting 43.2% from the field and 38.7% from the three-point range.

He got off to a slow start to the season but has been playing much better, scoring 20+ points in each of the previous six games. 

The Warriors have also been playing a lot better and are now in the middle of a five-game winning streak. 

They improved to 15-14 in their first 29 games, which has them as the tenth seed in the Western Conference. 

Following the Trail Blazers, the Warriors will now go to Denver to face off against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets on Monday. 

As for the Trail Blazers, they fell to 7-21 in their first 28 games, which has them as the 14th seed in the Western Conference.  

They will play their next game on Tuesday evening when they host the Sacramento Kings.
