The former Washington State star has spent his entire career with the Warriors and helped them win the NBA Championship in four of the last eight seasons.
During the two seasons that Thompson was injured (2020 and 2021), the Warriors missed the playoffs both times.
Meanwhile, in the last six seasons that he has played, the franchise has been to the NBA Finals all six times.
He finished the 2022-23 regular season with productive averages of 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest while shooting 43.6% from the field and 41.2% from the three-point range.
That said, the Warriors had an up-and-down season and went 44-38, which has them as the sixth seed in the Western Conference.
They lost Game 1 (on Saturday) by a score of 126-123, and Thompson had 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and one steal in 37 minutes of playing time.
As for the Kings, they are in the NBA Playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season.
