On Monday night, the Golden State Warriors will face off with the Sacramento Kings (on the road) for Game 2 of their first-round playoff series.

The first game (on Saturday) was a thriller, and the Kings won 126-123.

During Monday's showdown, Klay Thompson will likely make NBA history by moving up on the all-time playoff scoring list

The five-time All-Star has 2,812 career playoff points, which ranks 36th on the list.

He only needs two points to move ahead of Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing (2,813) for 35th.

Thompson has scored at least two points in every single game he has played this season.

The former Washington State star had 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and one steal in the Game 1 loss.

During the regular season, Thompson averaged 21.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest in 69 games.

He also shot 43.6% from the field and 41.2% from the three-point range.

The Warriors have won the NBA Championship in four of the previous eight seasons (and been to the NBA Finals six times in that span).

That said, the team had an up-and-down season, going 44-38 and finishing as the sixth seed.

Their biggest struggles came on the road, where they went just 11-30 in the 41 games they played away from the Chase Center.

For reference, the Warriors were an outstanding 33-8 in the 41 games they hosted in San Francisco.

Meanwhile, the Kings (48-34) are the third seed in the west and in the playoffs for the first time since the 2006 season.
