Kyrie Irving's Shocking Answer When Asked About Kevin Durant Getting Traded
On Monday, the Dallas Mavericks acquired superstar point guard Kyrie Irving in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.
Irving played his first game with the Mavs on Wednesday evening, and he led them to a 110-104 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in California.
The NBA Champion guard played 37 minutes and had 24 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block.
Right after the game, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that his former teammate Kevin Durant had been traded from the Nets to the Phoenix Suns.
Following the victory over the Clippers, Irving was asked about the trade.
"I love the competition now that we can be in the same conference, and I welcome all that, Irving said. "We get to see him a little bit more, probably playing against Phoenix a lot more. That's what I'm looking forward to. Everything else and in the in-between, I'm just glad that he got out of there."
The last part of Irving's quote has caught the attention of people on Twitter.
Irving and Durant are two of the greatest players ever, but they only won just one playoff series together.
Therefore, their tenure in Brooklyn is going to go down as one of the biggest failures in NBA history.
That said, they both appear to be in extraordinary situations following their respective trades.
Irving and Luka Doncic will make up arguably the best duo in the NBA, and Durant joins Chris Paul, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton (which might be the most talented team in the NBA).
