On Wednesday evening, the Dallas Mavericks are in California facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers.  

During the game, Kyrie Irving made NBA history by moving up on the all-time scoring list.

Irving came into the evening with 15,975 career points and he has now moved ahead of Kiki Vandeweghe (15,980) for 119th on the list.

The next player for him to pass will be Amar'e Stoudemire (15,994). 

Irving entered the matchup with averages of 23.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 47.3% from the field and 38.5% from the three-point range in 11 games.  

The Mavs are 9-5 in their first 14 games and in the middle of a two-game losing streak.  

They most recently lost to the Sacramento Kings by a score of 129-113. 

In 33 minutes of playing time, Irving had 23 points, two rebounds and one assist while shooting 8/17 from the field and 2/6 from the three-point range. 

Irving is in his second season with the Mavs after getting traded (via the Brooklyn Nets) in February. 

Following the Lakers, the Mavs will play their next game against the Los Angeles Clippers (also in Los Angeles) on Saturday.

In addition to the Mavs and Nets, Irving has also spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. 

The 2016 NBA Champion has career averages of 23.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.3 steals per contest while shooting 47.2% from the field and 39.1% from the three-point range in 682 games.
