Kyrie Irving Made NBA History In Mavs-Pelicans Game
On Sunday evening, the Dallas Mavericks are in Louisiana facing off against the New Orleans Pelicans.
During the game, Kyrie Irving made NBA history by moving up on the all-time three-pointers list.
Irving came into the evening with 1,574 three-pointers, and he has now moved ahead of three-time NBA Champion Danny Green (1,577) for 39th on the list.
The next player for Irving to pass will be Mike Miller (1,590).
Irving entered the matchup with averages of 21.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 43.0% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range.
The Mavs are 7-2 in their first nine games, which has them as the second seed in the Western Conference.
Most recently, they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers by a score of 144-126.
Irving played 28 minutes and had 27 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals while shooting 8/19 from the field and 5/9 from the three-point range.
This is Irving's first full year with Dallas after getting traded (via the Brooklyn Nets) during the middle of last season.
The Mavs missed the NBA playoffs, but Irving had a fantastic year with averages of 27.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.1 steals per contest while shooting 49.4% from the field and 37.9% from the three-point range in 60 games (he also made his eighth NBA All-Star Game).
Following the Pelicans, the Mavs will play their next game against Jordan Poole and the Washington Wizards on Wednesday evening in Washington, D.C.
