Kyrie Irving's Official Status For Mavs-Clippers Game
On Wednesday evening, the Dallas Mavericks are in California to face off with the Los Angeles Clippers.
For the game, they will have their new superstar point guard available, as Kyrie Irving will play 34-36 minutes, according to head coach Jason Kidd.
Via Callie Caplan of The Dallas Morning News: "Jason Kidd on Mavs’ plan for Kyrie Irving tonight vs. Clippers: “We’re going to try and not play him 40 minutes.”
A joke!
Said the 34-36 min range for Kyrie is the target, and will look for him to be vocal in leadership on offense, asking questions on defense."
Irving had been in the middle of his fourth season with the Nets before the trade on Monday.
He is currently averaging 27.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per contest (while shooting 48.6% from the field and 37.4% from the three-point range).
The Mavs come into the night with a 29-26 record in 55 games, which has them as the sixth seed in the Western Conference.
They are 5-5 in their last ten games and 10-17 in the 27 games they have played on the road away from Dallas.
Luka Doncic, who is ruled out for the night with a heel injury, is one of the ten best players in the league.
Therefore, the duo of Irving and Doncic has the potential to be remarkable.
Last season, the Mavs made the Western Conference Finals, so the addition of Irving could propel them into being a legitimate title contender in the 2023 NBA Playoffs.
