LeBron James' Brutally Honest Quote After Los Angeles Lakers Get Eliminated
On Monday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the 2023 NBA Playoffs when they lost 113-111 to the Denver Nuggets on their home floor in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.
LeBron James had a game-high 40 points to go with ten rebounds, nine assists and two steals (he played the entire game).
After the tough loss, the four-time NBA Champion met with the media and shared a very honest quote (his full media availability can be watched here).
James: "I don't like to say it was a successful year because I don't play for anything besides winning championships at this point in my career. I don't get a kick out of making a Conference appearance. I've done it a lot. It's not fun to me to not be able to be a part of getting to the Finals. But will see. Will see what happens going forward. But I don't know. I don't know. I got a lot to think about, to be honest. I got a lot to think about, to be honest. Just for me personally, going forward with the game of basketball got a lot to think about."
James is 38 but is still among the top ten players in the league and made his 19th straight trip to the All-Star Game this year.
He finished the regular season with averages of 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.8 assists per contest while shooting 50.0% from the field.
Many people on Twitter have wondered what his remarks could mean for his future.
In addition, Chris Haynes of the NBA on TNT and Bleacher Report has reported that James is considering retirement.
Via Haynes: "BREAKING: Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is unsure if he’ll be with team when 2023-24 season starts in fall and retirement is under consideration, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport."
