On Tuesday evening, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers lost 132-126 to the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals (on the road at Ball Arena in Colorado).

James finished his night with 26 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and one block while shooting 9/16 from the field in 40 minutes of playing time.

However, the Lakers got off to a dreadful start, going into halftime trailing by 18 points.

They woke up in the second half and won the final two quarters by 12 points, but the hole they dug themselves in was too deep.

After the game, the four-time NBA Champion met with the media and was honest about the poor start.

James: "It took us a half to get into the game, and that was pretty much the ball game right there. We've got to understand that we've got to start from the tip-off. They punched us in the mouth to start."

At 38, James is still among the top ten players in the league and is averaging 23.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.2 blocks per contest through the first 13 games of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic were sensational, as the two big men put up unbelievable stat lines.

Davis had 40 points, ten rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks.

Meanwhile, Jokic had 34 points, 21 rebounds, 14 assists and two blocks.

Game 2 of the series will be on Thursday night back in Denver, and then the teams will go to Los Angeles for Games 3 and 4.
