Magic Johnson's Intriguing Take On The Los Angeles Lakers
On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers played their first game of the 2023-24 regular season when they faced off against the Denver Nuggets on the road in Colorado.
For the most part, the Nuggets controlled the game and took a 14-point lead after the first quarter.
The Lakers were unable to slow down two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who had 29 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, one steal and one block in 36 minutes of playing time.
Hall of Famer (and Lakers legend) Magic Johnson sent out a post about the Lakers (on X) on Wednesday.
Via Johnson: "Laker Nation, I’m not at all concerned about our Lakers losing to the Nuggets last night. With 8 new players it will take at least 2 months for them to really learn how to play with each other and understand their roles. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Lakers will look starting in January!"
The Lakers signed several veterans over the offseason (Cam Reddish, Taurean Prince, Jaxson Hayes and Gabe Vincent).
Prince had a good game against the Nuggets, putting up 18 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block while shooting 6/8 from the field and 4/6 from the three-point range in 30 minutes of playing time.
The Lakers will play their next game on Thursday evening when they host Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns in Los Angeles.
On Tuesday, the Suns defeated Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors by a score of 108-104 on the road at the Chase Center.
