Malik Beasley Made Los Angeles Lakers History On Tuesday Night
On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers are in Louisiana facing off with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Lakers got off to a tremendous start to the game and had a 75-40 lead going into halftime.
One of the biggest reasons for their stellar first-half performance was the play of Malik Beasley.
The former Florida State star had 21 points and made seven three-pointers through the first two quarters.
He is now just the third player in Lakers' history ever to make seven threes in a half.
Via NBA History: "Malik Beasley is only the third Laker in history to make 7 threes in a single half:
Kobe Bryant (8 3PM, 2003)
Glen Rice (7 3PM, 1999)
Malik Beasley (7 3PM, 2023)"
Beasley is playing in his 13th game with the Lakers after getting traded (via the Utah Jazz) last month.
He came into the night with averages of 13.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest in 67 games on the season.
The Lakers are his fourth team in the NBA, as he has also had stints with the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves.
His career averages are 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest in 403 regular season games (while shooting 37.8% from the three-point range).
The 26-year-old has also played in 20 NBA Playoffs games (with the Nuggets and Timberwolves).
Coming into Tuesday’s matchup, the Lakers were 33-35 in 68 games, which had them in a three-way tie for the ninth seed in the Western Conference.
