Miami Heat Announce 2 Roster Moves
On Friday evening, the Miami Heat played their final preseason game against the Houston Rockets.
They lost 110-104, so the Heat finished the preseason with a 2-3 record in five games.
With the regular season in less than one week, teams around the league are making a lot of transactions.
On Saturday, the Heat announced that they had made two roster moves.
Via The Heat: "OFFICIAL: The Miami HEAT have signed guard Dru Smith to a Standard Contract and converted forward Cole Swider to a Two-Way Contract."
Smith is coming off his rookie year, where he played in 15 regular season games for the Heat (and Brooklyn Nets).
He averaged 2.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest while shooting 40.0% from the field and 26.3% from the three-point range.
Swider is also coming off his rookie season in the NBA, and he appeared in seven games for the Los Angeles Lakers.
He averaged 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 33.3% from the field and 37.5% from the three-point range.
As for the Heat, they will play their first game of the year on October 25 when they host Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons in Florida.
They are coming off an impressive season where they were the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference but made the NBA Finals after beating the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics in the first three rounds.
However, the Heat lost to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in five games.
