Miami Heat Make Shocking NBA History In Game 1
On Thursday evening, the Miami Heat lost Game 1 of the NBA Finals by a score of 104-93 on the road in Colorado.
They struggled from the start of the game, trailing by 17 points at halftime.
The Heat shot just 40.6% from the field, while they allowed the Nuggets to shoot 50.6%.
However, the most concerning part of the Heat's offense was that they only attempted two free throws.
In fact, that is the lowest amount of free throws ever attempted in an NBA Playoff game.
Via ESPN Stats & Info: "The Heat attempted 2 free throws in Game 1, the fewest in a playoff game in NBA history."
Jimmy Butler finished the night with 13 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one block in 38 minutes of playing time.
After the loss, the six-time NBA All-Star said he needs to attack the basket more.
Butler after Game 1: "Maybe I have to be a little bit more aggressive. I've gotta put pressure on the rim. Me with no free throws, that was all on myself, nobody else. We'll definitely correct that next game, but only I can do that."
Game 2 of the series will be on Sunday night back in Denver before the teams head to Miami for Games 3 and 4.
Butler is in his fourth season with the Heat and has led them to the Finals in two out of the previous four seasons.
They are only the second 8th seed ever to make the Finals.
