Miami Heat Release 5-Year NBA Player
Cheick Diallo most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he appeared in three games for the Detroit Pistons.
That year, he averaged 3.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 37.5% from the field.
This offseason, Diallo signed with the Heat, but it's now been announced that he has been waived.

Diallo was initially the 33rd pick in the 2016 NBA Draft out of Kansas.
He has played five seasons in the NBA for the New Orleans Pelicans, Phoenix Suns and Detroit Pistons.
His career averages are 5.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 59.6% from the field in 183 regular season games (he has also appeared in seven NBA playoff games).
Meanwhile, Champagnie is coming off a year where he appeared in five regular season games for the Toronto Raptors and Boston Celtics.
He averaged 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest while shooting 33.3% from the field.
Over two seasons in the NBA, Champagnie has played 41 regular season games and has career averages of 2.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 43.9% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range (he has also appeared in four NBA playoff games).
As for the Heat, they will play their first game of the season on October 25, when they host the Detroit Pistons in Florida.
Last year, they lost in the NBA Finals to the Denver Nuggets (in five games).
