Miami Heat Star Out Indefinitely Following Successful Surgery
The Miami Heat are in the middle of a first-round playoff series with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Currently, the series is knotted up at 1-1, but the Heat lost one of their best players (Tyler Herro) due to a hand injury in Game 1.
On Friday, the team announced that the former Kentucky star is out indefinitely following successful surgery.
Via The Heat: "INJURY UPDATE: Tyler Herro underwent successful open reduction and internal fixation surgery of the third and fourth metacarpal of his right hand.
He is expected to miss a minimum of 6 weeks."
Herro had another productive season with averages of 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per contest in 67 games while shooting 37.8% from the three-point range.
In 2022, he won the 6th Man of The Year Award and he helped the Heat make the NBA Finals in 2020.
This year, they went 44-38 and finished as the seventh seed but lost their play-in tournament game so they are the eighth seed.
Despite having an up-and-down season this year, the Heat have been to the Conference Finals in two out of the last three seasons.
Playing without Herro will be a challenge, but they have one of the best rosters in the league and are 27-14 in the 41 games they have hosted on their home floor in Miami (Games 3 and 4 are in Miami on Saturday and Monday).
Therefore, the Heat will have an excellent chance to take a 3-1 lead or a 2-2 tie to Milwaukee for Game 5.
