BREAKING: Orlando Magic Release Key Player
Bol Bol spent this past year playing for the Orlando Magic and averaged a career-high 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 blocks per contest while shooting 54.6% from the field in 70 games (33 starts).
On Tuesday, the team announced that they had released the former Oregon star.
Via Orlando Magic PR: "The Orlando Magic have waived forward-center Bol Bol, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today."
Following the news, Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports added more details on Bol Bol.
Via Fischer: "Had heard the Magic were looking at dealing Bol Bol dating back to the NBA Draft. Two teams mentioned were Phoenix and Dallas, but the Suns have flushed out their veteran minimum centers. Wonder if Bol could be in the Mavericks’ plans if Dallas can find a deal for JaVale McGee."
Bol Bol is coming off a very solid season and is only 23 years old, so seeing another team sign him would come as no surprise.
Coming out of high school, he was seen as a potential star, and ESPN ranked him as the fourth-best player in the class of 2018.
In addition to the Magic, Bol Bol has also played three seasons for the Denver Nuggets.
His career averages are 6.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 53.3% from the field in 123 regular season games.
Last year, the Magic finished with a 34-48 record which got them the 13th seed in the Eastern Conference, so they missed the NBA Playoffs for the third straight season.
