On Sunday, Lou Williams, one of the best role players in the history of the NBA, officially announced his retirement.

The three-time 6th Man of The Year posted a fantastic video to Instagram.

Thousands of people have already liked and commented on the post in just two hours.

Williams wasn't in the NBA this past season and most recently played for the Atlanta Hawks during the 2021-22 season.

In addition to the Hawks, the 36-year-old had stints with the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers.

His career averages were 13.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest while shooting 41.9% from the field and 35.1% from the three-point range over 1,123 regular season games (he also appeared in 89 NBA Playoff games).

Williams was the 45th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft by the 76ers and was one of the last players ever to be drafted straight from high school

Arguably the best years of his career came when he was in his 30s, playing for the Clippers.

During his tenure with the franchise, Williams averaged 19.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per contest while shooting 42.6% from the field and 36.0% from the three-point range.

The Clippers made the NBA Playoffs in two of those years, and Williams averaged a career-high 22.6 points per contest during the 2018 season.

Williams was known for his role as a 6th Man, and he retires as the NBA's all-time leader in bench points (13,396).
