NBA News: The Cleveland Cavaliers Are Signing A Former Brooklyn Nets And Portland Trail Blazers Player
The Cleveland Cavaliers announced the signing of NBA veteran Ed Davis on Wednesday.
The announcement from the Cavs can be seen in a Tweet that is embedded below from the team's Twitter account.
Davis has been in the NBA for 11 years and was the 13th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.
Over his career he has played for the Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, Brooklyn Nets, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Lakers.
His best scoring season (8.3 points per game) came with the Lakers in 2015.
The best rebounding season of his career (8.6 rebounds per game) came when he played for the Brooklyn Nets during the 2018-19 season.
That season he played a vital role on a team that surprised the entire NBA by making the playoffs and being the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
He is someone who can be a great locker room presence at 32 years old, because he has loads of experience playing with many different players and franchises over the last decade.
The Cavs are a team that is seeking to take the next step.
They have come nowhere near the playoffs since LeBron James went to the Lakers during the summer of 2018.
They are led by Collin Sexton, Darius Garland and Davis' former teammate in Brooklyn, Jarrett Allen.
