New York Knicks Reportedly Make 2 Roster Moves
Over the offseason, the New York Knicks signed Jacob Toppin and Charlie Brown Jr. to Exhibit 10 deals.
Both players played for the Knicks during the preseason, and now ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the team will sign Toppin and Brown Jr. to two-way contracts.
Via Wojnarowski: "The Knicks are converting Charlie Brown Jr., and Jacob Toppin to two-way contracts, sources tell ESPN."
Brown Jr. has played three seasons in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers.
His career averages are 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 28.7% from the field and 21.4% from the three-point range in 41 regular season games.
This past year, he played in the G League and averaged 13.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per contest while shooting 53.0% from the field and 31.7% from the three-point range in 32 regular season games (he also appeared in 15 Showcase Cup games and four G League playoff games).
Meanwhile, Toppin went undrafted in June after playing four seasons of college basketball for Rhode Island and Kentucky.
This past year, he averaged 12.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest while shooting 46.3% from the field and 30.5% from the three-point range in 33 games.
The Knicks will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season on October 25 when they host the Boston Celtics and Madison Square Garden.
Last year, they lost to the Miami Heat in the second round of the NBA playoffs (in six games).
