New York Knicks Reportedly Sign Former NBA 1st Round Pick To 15-Man Roster
Dylan Windler is coming off a year where he appeared in three games for the Cleveland Cavaliers and averaged 1.7 points per contest.
In addition to the NBA, Windler played in the G League and had averages of 12.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest while shooting 52.3% from the field and 40.7% from the three-point range in 11 regular season games.
This summer, Windler signed a two-way deal with the New York Knicks, and according to Keith Smith of Spotrac, he will now sign a standard contract with the team, which puts him on the 15-man roster.
Via Smith: "The New York Knicks are converting Dylan Windler from his two-way contract to a standard contract, a league source tells @spotrac."
Windler was initially the 26th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
He has played three years in the NBA (all with the Cavs) and has career averages of 3.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 41.6% from the field and 32.2% from the three-point range in 84 regular season games.
The Knicks will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season on October 25 when they host the Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
They are coming off a year where they were the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference and beat the Cavs in the first round of the NBA playoffs, which was their first time winning a playoff series since 2013.
After defeating the Cavs, the Knicks lost to the Miami Heat in the second round.
