Philadelphia 76ers G League Team Made A Trade
Javonte Smart most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he was a member of the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks.
That year (which was his rookie season), he averaged 3.0 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 31.7% from the field and 29.6% from the three-point range in 17 games.
In August, Smart signed a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, and his G League rights have now been traded to the Delaware Blue Coats (G League affiliate of the 76ers).
Via The Delaware Blue Coats on October 9: "OFFICIAL: the Delaware Blue Coats acquire the returning G League rights to Javonte Smart in exchange for the Delaware Blue Coats 2024 1st and 2nd round pick to South Bay Lakers. Birmingham Squadron acquires the rights to Devin Cannady in exchange for Javonte Smart."
Smart initially went undrafted in 2021 after playing three seasons of college basketball for the LSU Tigers.
During his final season of college, Smart averaged 16.0 points per contest while shooting 46.0% from the field and 40.2% from the three-point range.
Smart has played two seasons in the G League, and this past year, he averaged 13.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest while shooting 42.7% from the field and 36.0% from the three-point range in 32 regular season games (he also appeared in 18 Showcase Cup games).
As for the 76ers, they are coming off a year where they were the third seed in the Eastern Conference and lost to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
