Portland Trail Blazers Make A Roster Move

The Portland Trail Blazers have assigned a player to the G League.

On Wednesday evening, the Portland Trail Blazers lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers by a score of 109-95.

Rayan Rupert played three minutes in the game, and on Thursday, he was assigned to the G League.

Via Trail Blazers PR: "OFFICIAL: The @trailblazers have assigned guard/forward Rayan Rupert to the @ripcityremix."

Casey Holdahl reported more details on the move.

Via Holdahl: "This would seem to indicate Rupert will be available to play in Friday’s Remix home opener but not in the tournament game versus the Lakers, both of which are on Friday"

Rupert was the 43rd pick in the 2023 NBA Draft and has played in four games so far this season.

Last year, he played in 20 games for the New Zealand Breakers and averaged 6.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest while shooting 36.4% from the field and 25.0% from the three-point range.

The 19-year-old will likely spend a lot of time in the G League this season.

As for the Trail Blazers, they are 3-8 in their first 11 games and in the middle of a five-game losing streak.

They are tied for the 13th seed in the Western Conference and 1-3 in the four games they have hosted on their home floor in Oregon.

Following the loss to the Cavs, the Trail Blazers will host LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday evening.

Last season, they were the 13th seed in the west with a 33-49 record and missed the NBA playoffs for the second straight year.
